Brandon Dameshek’s poetry has appeared in The Cimarron Review, The Coe Review, The Columbia Poetry Review, The Harrisburg Review, and, most recently, Portrait. He received the Eileen Lannan Prize for Poetry in 1999 while attending Columbia College in Chicago. Brandon obtained his BA in Creative Writing from the College of Santa Fe and earned his MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston. Brandon lists several of his former instructors among the most influential people in his life. Included in that list of fine poets are Maureen Seaton, Jack Butler, Bill Knott, Stephen Dobyns, Jonathan Aaron, Dan Tobin, and, in particular, Greg Glazner. Brandon continues to be infatuated with the poetry of Bob Hicok, Andrew Hudgins, and Bruce Weigl, who once did Brandon an invaluable service in letting him know via interview that “we lie to tell the truth.” A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Brandon has lived in cities all over the country, including Pittsburgh, Santa Fe, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia. An incessant baseball fan, Brandon finally had the opportunity to watch his beloved Red Sox win a World Championship ring, sweetened by the fact that his then two-month old daughter got to watch it along with him. Brandon currently lives in Harrisburg with his wife, Angela, his daughter, Marsden, and his two cats. |
