Shauna L. Yorty

Shauna L. Yorty is a 1997 graduate of Lebanon High School and a 2005 graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College, where she earned a Certificate of Proficiency in Entrepreneurship. She has recieved honors for her works, including Scholastic Art Awards Silver Keys in 1995, Second and Third Places and Best of Show in the Lebanon High School Art Show in 1996 and 1997, Outstanding Entrepreneurial Student Award from HACC in 2004, and First Place in the Community of Lebanon Association's 2nd Annual Chalk Drawing Contest in 2004.

Her work has recently been shown at the Art is Freedom Gallery at Checkered Past in Red Lion, Pa and at HACC's Lebanon campus where a sample of her photographs were shown at last year's December is for Members Exhibition. This exibiiton features the art of members of the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts.

Shauna enjoys working with many medias including acrylic, oil, pencil, crayon, and photography. Constantly yearning to learn more techniques and styles, she creates numerous types of work from portraits to jewelry to wall and room murals to tattoo designs and more.

The minimal amount of art exposure and instruction young children receive is unacceptable, according to her. She plans to open an art center in Lebanon in hopes of giving them an expressive outlet through creativity.

Shauna is currently enrolled at HACC, and is working towards her B.S.Ed. in Art Education.
